Application Engineer


Description

Responsible for design, development, testing of major engineering projects where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. Where applicable, exercise technical direction over other engineers or engineering support personnel. Applies expertise in base engine design, new product development. Exercises independent judgment, capable of managing very broad or numerous projects with high degree of difficulty. Consults with supervisor as required.

- Generates technical solutions for current, new and major programs
- Define and document customer requirements
- Develop and execute OEM program plan includes ADV planning, hardware planning, etc.
- Define and adhere to program timing milestones
- Define OEM Bill of Material (BOM) and maintain Product Plan Book
- Coordinate engineering content, design and release (engine assembly, kit parts, etc.)
- Support functional organizations (Service, GSC, SPO, Quality Systems, etc.)
- Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development
- Support OEM customer for all aspects of program
- Support OEM Sales Development team for development/validation activities
- Interact with GMPT PET/Engineering community
- Report out program status to GMPT and OEM customer Management
- Represent the "Voice of the OEM customer" throughout GMPT
- Maintain product technical specs (application manual, performance data, etc.)
- Review changes to product programs and communicate as appropriate to OEM customers
- Support customer program needs (math models, hardware, etc.)
- Quality Liaison - lead resolution of issues between customer and GMPT
- Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers
- Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
- Travel as required

Qualifications

- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
- Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual
  goals
- Specific knowledge of engineering discipline (e.g. mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics software,
  control systems) within job-related area
- High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
- Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area
- Four or more years experience in job-related area

Education and/or Training

Candidate should have one of the following engineering degrees: BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Mechanics
